5) Week 14: vs Bengals – Overshown’s 4th Down Stop
Dallas was keen on building momentum behind Cooper Rush and an improving defense entering their Monday Night Football battle with the Bengals. After trading scores early in the game, Cincinnati had just crossed the 50-yard line into Dallas territory before being faced with 4th down and 3. Joe Burrow was pressured on the play and was forced to dump it off to the tailback Chase Brown, who appeared open at the time. That was until DeMarvion Overshown sped over to the spot, drilled Brown and jarred the football free, breaking up the pass and winning possession for Dallas. Unfortunately, this would be one of Overshown’s final highlights of the season as he suffered a severe knee injury in the second half, bringing his season to an abrupt end.
4) Week 11: vs Texans – Turpin’s 64-yard TD
For weeks, Cowboys fans were clamoring for KaVontae Turpin to get more involved on offense and use the explosive ability he showcases on special teams. That finally became a reality on Monday Night Football. Down 14-0 early in the second quarter, Cooper Rush found Turpin open on a drag route over the middle and his speed did the rest. Turpin would hit 22.36 mph on his way to a 64-yard touchdown to cut the Texans lead in half. That number still stands as the fastest on-field speed recorded this season and the fastest recorded by a Cowboys player during the “Next Gen Era” since 2016.
3) Week 4: at Giants – Lamb’s 55-yard TD
After starting the season, 1-2 and dropping two-straight in significant fashion to New Orleans and Baltimore, the Cowboys needed a confidence builder from their Thursday Night Football matchup with the Giants. That boost came mid-way through the second quarter as CeeDee Lamb broke open down the left sideline, made one cut inside, and took off for a 55-yard touchdown. Turning back to taunt the Giants secondary as he backed into the endzone. A moment that put Dallas ahead 14-6 and set the tone for a 20-15 win, continuing their dominance over their bitter NFC East rival.
2) Week 16: vs Buccaneers – Jourdan Lewis Interception
Dallas dominated for much of the game and held a 26-17 lead deep into the fourth quarter. Tampa Bay, led by quarterback Baker Mayfield, entered the game on a four-game winning streak and leading the NFC South. Meaning they weren’t going down without a fight. With 6:30 remaining, the Buccaneers were driving on offense, looking to make it a two-score game. On 1st and 10 from the Dallas 46, Mayfield dropped back and delivered a strike to Jalen McMillan at the goal line. There was only one thing left standing in the way of a Tampa touchdown, and his name was Jourdan Lewis. The veteran cornerback wrestled the ball away from the rookie receiver for a crucial interception, saving a touchdown in the process. Dallas would go on to win, 26-24 on Sunday Night Football.
1) Week 5: at Steelers – Tolbert’s Game Winning TD
Sunday Night Football turned into “Early Monday Morning Football” as the opening kickoff was delayed nearly 90-minutes. The rain continued throughout the night as the Cowboys and Steelers each struggled to find any groove on offense, scoring a combined 16 points in the first three quarters. However, the two teams traded scores to begin the fourth, and Pittsburgh took a 17-13 lead with 4:56 left. Dallas pieced together a 70-yard drive in 15 plays before finding Jalen Tolbert on 4th and goal for the touchdown with 20-seconds remaining. Securing a much-needed road win over the Steelers.
