Patrick Mahomes injury update: Report says Chiefs believe QB has high-ankle sprain

As far as the injuries go, uh, Patrick, uh, his right ankle has been hurt, it’s not broken. Um, uh, but it’s sore and, uh, he’ll, uh, start on the rehab part of it as, as we go and then we’ll just have to see, um, how he does down the road here. Um, and then Shamari, uh, Connor has *** concussion. Um, and tough kid, boy, I’ll tell you, he, he do *** wall up in there. He gave *** wallop and got need in the side of the head there. And so, um, but he’s doing well now, uh, which is, which is the most important thing. Uh, and we should be good there. So, um, and then, uh, I thought our defense just played tremendous football today, uh, uh, throughout, we had one big play other than that man, it was, uh, it was *** great job. All the takeaways turnovers that they, uh, that we had, I thought was *** spectacular spag, had *** great game plan for these guys and, and, uh, we’re able to do that against the run and the, and the pass game. And so, uh, my hat goes off to our guys, uh, for that, the five, the five sacks, you know, Joe really stresses, uh, being able to rush the passer and, and the quality of that and you saw that today, um, it was good to get Charles in there and get going, you know, you got going today, uh, which will help us down the road going forward here. But they all, I thought the whole defensive line played, played ***, *** really good game, uh, offensively, um, you know, we battled through something. They did *** good job in the, the first half. I, I’ve got to take care of business on my end for the third quarter. I’ve just given our guys things that they, they can work with and, uh, you know, we didn’t, I do, I wasn’t able to do that. And so I’ve, I’ve got to take care of that part, but I thought, I, I thought, uh, toy asked to play left tackle, had done that since college, uh, got out there and, uh, really battled and did *** nice job against one of the best defensive ends in the, in the game right now. So, and he, he battled hard out and then Caliendo, uh, what *** great experience that is for him to get out and get *** full game and that’s gonna help him down the road and us down the road. So, uh, I appreciate it as far as any changes or any of that. Um, um, you know, we’ll, we’ll just see going forward how things, how things go. Um, uh, at that, I, I’m saying on the offensive line. So, and then, um, uh, number 30 had *** forced fumble on special team, which was, which was tremendous. So everybody kind of got *** piece of the pie offense scored *** couple of different times and defense, uh did some great things and, and then special teams had some great things. So, uh we, we just got to keep going and keep getting better. Uh, *** as we go here, that’s the important thing. And uh the, the most important thing is you win the game, right? So that’s, uh, um, I’m not apologizing to anybody for that. So with that time, jurisdiction very early, but early indications are there. Well, it’s not broken, that’s what I can tell. I mean, I just got off the field. So, you know, that’s so I’m, I’m, I’m gonna just see how it goes. I mean, it’ll literally be day to day as we, as we go forward. I don’t know how much swelling he has or any of that. So, um, or what will come, you know, from now to whatever. So how much is *** game situation versus, uh, he, he probably could have gone back in, um, he wanted to fight about it, but, um, it’s ***, we’ve got *** good support there behind him with Carson and, uh, it was good to get him *** few reps in there too and let our guys hear that snap count in case he has to, he has to go. So you kind of touched on this in the past when you pulled him out of the game for injury. He’s got, what was his reaction today? Yeah. Well, yeah, he, he, uh, you know, he, he wanted to go back in but he, he listen, he’s *** tough kid and um, there was no need for that. So only four penalties *** day. I think how many kids, the top half of the league if you was going to leave for like five straight years, at least. What is your philosophy on keeping those down low? Yeah, listen, that’s, um, I try to work your fundamentals and technique. Uh but that’s *** and something I don’t really have control over with the officials. Um uh they do *** good job and do the best they can and uh it’s tough and we’re all seeing, seeing stuff and, uh and, you know, they got to make the call out there, but we’ve been fortunate that way. So *** lot of, *** lot of coach will say we talk about it all the time, all that stuff. How do you actually prevent that from happening? Well, you try to work the fundamentals, you know, that’s uh we can talk about it all we want, but you gotta work those and you say taking care of business of the third quarter. What, what do you, what do you think of? Yeah, listen, I can, I can give the guys better, better options there and, um, we’ll get that, get that taken care of. So make sure I clean that up. Sorry. What, what was the decision to put you into left tackle? What I do to make that? Well, the, the injury on the DJ and then, um, Joe had taken *** couple of snaps there last week and I just felt comfortable veteran player. Um, you know, I looked, I scouted him as ***, as *** tackle so I knew he, he could get out there and battle. Um, he’s been an all pro at two other positions. So give him *** chance, uh, at the tackle spot. Nate, I don’t know if based on your position or how the decision was made, but you guys, maybe from the 39 I, I want to go, I, I thought we had *** good play, I thought and, um, you know, it was one of those deals so I wanted to go for it and get it. We were pretty good in those situations but not, not today, pretty heavy in the third quarter of this year. What’s the balance of trying to do that? Yeah. Yeah. So you’ve got to be able to throw the ball in this league. I mean, that’s how it works. Uh You guys were at the game, some of our runs didn’t work too Well, either. So we gotta make sure we clean that up and get that going. That’s where I can kind of give him *** uh you know, do *** better job there for him. And you may have said this right at the very start. But did you have ***, *** little dialogue with Patrick after, after the game with the special with him or didn’t you see him specifically? No, I did. I talked to him, ma’am. Yeah. The chair. It was good talking. Ok. All right. Thank you. Save travel.
