Nottingham Forest clinch all three points at Old Trafford after an excellent display, that took advantage of some sloppy United defending throughout. They took the lead after just 92 seconds through Milenkovic, but Hojlund got the equaliser on 18 minutes to make it 1-1 at the break, despite both sides hitting the woodwork. Forest were excellent after the restart and caught United out early on again, with Gibbs-White making it 2-1 on 47 minutes with a strike from the edge of the box that Onana should’ve done much better with. They then got a third just a few minutes later through Wood’s looping header, which was poorly defended at the back by the home side. United rallied after the third goal and pulled one back through Fernandes just after the hour mark, but despite pressure late on, they couldn’t go on and get another and Forest secured a 3-2 victory. This win moves Forest up to fifth in the table, ahead of their next game against Aston Villa. Meanwhile United remain 13th and next up for them is the Manchester derby. Forest then had two excellent chances to score a second, the first coming through Jota’s header from a free-kick that struck the crossbar, before Murillo sent his low strike just inches past the post. United almost made it 2-1 just before the whistle, with Fernandes producing a wonderful free-kick from 25 yards out, but his effort hit the bar. It’ll be interesting to see how the second half plays out as this one could go either way at the moment.
