SDSU Football Turkey Truths Volume 3

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – For the last two years I’ve spotlighted some of the favorite Thanksgiving traditions of the SDSU football team in a segment called “Turkey Truths”.

Since we’ve probably all had enough food by now this Thanksgiving I figured I’d do something different this year and ask what their go-to NFL game to watch on Turkey Day is-the Lions, Cowboys or Pick Em third game?

The truth shall set them free!

“This year I’m gonna have to say the Lions because they’re playing the Bears on Thanksgiving. Just being a Chicago guy but I always usually turn on the Lions game first because, I don’t know, I feel like that’s the classic team. Just being the midwest guy that’s the classic team I always watch.” SDSU Senior QB Mark Gronowski says.

“I’m have the same answer. It’s gonna be the Lions this year because they’re playing the Bears this year and I’m a Bears fan. We got a lot of Bears fans on the team so there will be a lot of eyes on that game!” SDSU Senior LB Adam Bock says.

“Yeah it was usually the Lions-Bears. My family was from Chicago so, that and we were all Barry Sanders fans!” SDSU Head Coach Jimmy Rogers says.

“I really don’t know! I’m a 49ers fan. I usually like watching the Detroit game. It’s pretty good. As far as like, with me and Angel Johnson, you’ve got David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs back there. Kind of similar here. So I usually like watching them play too but I doubt the 49ers will ever get a Thanksgiving game. We kind of banged up right now!” SDSU Senior RB Amar Johnson says.

When asked about what it would be like to play for Dan Campbell, who once famously said his teams would be so tough that ‘ when you knock us down we’re going to get up and on the way up we’re going to bite a knee cap off alright? And then we’re going to stand up and it’s going to take two more shots to knock us down. And on the way up we’re going to take your other kneecap’, Gronowski compared his current head coach to the Detroit Lions leader.

“I feel like they’re pretty similar guys. Both really intense. Both highly competitive dudes. Just hard nosed people that really get the team going and it would be really cool to play for a guy like that.” Gronowski says.

So Jimmy bites kneecaps?!

“No, no!” Bock says.

“No Jimmy wouldn’t do that!” Johnson says.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did!” Gronowski says.

“I think he (Campbell) has done an unbelievable job. I wouldn’t put myself in that comparison but I respect the quote!” Rogers says.

Would you bite kneecaps?

“I probably wouldn’t say that but yeah!” Rogers says.
