After Gorimbo bashed home three thudding leg kicks at the outset of the contest, Luque connected with a short right hand as both men fired, following it up with a short left before chasing him to the canvas. The veteran locked onto an anaconda choke, rolled Gorimbo, and tightened the squeeze, putting “The Answer” to sleep in the center of the Octagon.
This was a statement effort from Luque, who came into the fight off a stoppage loss to streaking contender Joaquin Buckley and having dropped three of his previous four. But each of those losses came against fighters currently stationed in the Top 10, including champ Belal Muhammad, and on Saturday night, “The Silent Assassin” showed he’s still a dangerous threat each time out.
