Star Wars Skeleton Crew Release Schedule

IT’S TIME TO take another trip to a time long ago, in a galaxy far, far way. While we got The Acolyte earlier this year and are among the many eagerly awaiting season 2 of Andor in 2025, we now get see a genre we haven’t seen yet in a Star Wars TV show—the coming-of-age tale, in the form of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Coming from co-creators Jon Watts (who directed all three MCU Spider-Man movies) and Christopher Ford (Watts’s frequent collaborator), Skeleton Crew is a show clearly inspired by movies that came out of Steven Spielberg’s famous Amblin production house. We’re talking films like E.T. and The Goonies; stories where young people find themselves on an adventure bigger than they ever could’ve imagined, and learn a lot about themselves, their friends, and the world around them along the way. Shows like Stranger Things and movies like IT (2017) have taken this same kind of inspiration in the past, and now its Lucasfilm’s turn with Skeleton Crew.

The premise here is simple enough: four children (and a couple adorable space creatures) find themselves lost in the galaxy after making a surprising discovery on their home planet; they’re joined by the delightful Oscar-nominated star Jude Law as a force-using character named Jod Na Nawood who helps lead them down the right path (or wrong path; always have to be on your toes with these sorts of things) along their journey. Other cast members include Nick Frost as the a new droid’s voice (joining the likes of Taika Waititi and Matt Berry as Star Wars TV droid voices) along with Oscar nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) and TV on the Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe (who also had a memorable turn earlier this year in Twisters).

What really sets Skeleton Crew apart, though, is the group of directors that Watts and Ford got on board to direct the episodes. In addition to Watts himself directing the first and final episodes, the show features two episodes directed by David Lowery (The Green Knight), and an episode each for Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Twisters), Bryce Dallas Howard (some great episodes of The Mandalorian), Jake Schreier (Beef and the upcoming Thunderbolts), and the first post-Oscar-win work for the Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once), who direct the show’s fourth episode.

So, if all of that sounds good and fun to you (and it does for us!) keep reading so you don’t miss a minute of it.
