Jaela Auguste’s impressive freshman volleyball season at UF has been capped off with an SEC Freshman of the Year award, as well as nods for the All-SEC Second and SEC-All Freshman Teams.
Auguste ranked 14th in the nation and seventh in the SEC in hitting percentage. She is the first Gator to win the award since redshirt sophomore setter Alexis Stucky after the 2022 season.
The Spring, Texas, native has started in 26 of 28 matches, leading the Gators in blocks in 15 of those matchups.
Auguste was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Nov. 11 following her performance in Florida’s sweeps against Auburn and Alabama. She tallied seven kills against the Tigers and 11 kills against the Crimson Tide.
She also recorded double-digit kills in five matches, setting a career-high 12 kills against Ohio State on Sept. 8. Auguste tied her career high of seven blocks against Mississippi State.
In Auguste’s Florida debut against Colorado State Aug. 30, she totalled four kills and five blocks.
Three other Gators earned SEC accolades. Sophomore outside hitter Kennedy Martin earned All-SEC First Team, fifth-year libero Elli McKissock earned All-SEC Second Team and freshman Taylor Parks earned SEC-All Freshman Team.
