Coach Brian Daboll, QB Drew Lock

Tough game. Competed until the end. Not the results we want. Disappointing trip.

On the timeline with the quarterbacks and how it played out, knowing that Tommy wouldn’t be able to play.

Yeah, right. Yesterday, he came in, he was probably a little bit more sore than he was the day before. A little bit swollen. So we wanted to make sure that everything was alright. Went to get it tested and In the morning, even before he went to get looked at, we knew that he probably wouldn’t be able to do it. Finally gave him all the way up to it, but we had a good feeling that he wouldn’t be able to do it. But, we didn’t want to rule him out…just wanted to make sure he got looked and f it was better today, maybe he’d have had a chance, but it wasn’t.

On if Tommy could be ready for next week.

Probably. It’s nothing over the top, significant…weeks. think it’s nothing too significant—just pretty swollen up.

On if Tommy is still the quarterback if he’s healthy moving forward.

Well, we just got done playing here. We have a few days to go back and watch this game. I thought Drew did some good stuff, but, you know, two big turnovers—one on a screen where we had a big opportunity to get a big play on, and then coming out in the second half, up in the pocket and getting the ball knocked out. You can’t have those turnovers.

Singletary got hit pretty good trying to get out on that screen. On if it messed up the timing:

Yeah, he thought he could get around him rather than layer over the top. There was really nobody else out there. The guy who was covered, his man, the guy made a nice play.

On how he accounts for 13 penalties.

Some are physical. But the other ones, the pre-snap ones, We have do a better job there. The offsides, false start, the delay of games—not good enough.

On the swing in the third quarter with it looked like they were going to get the turnover, the touchback.

It was close. It was a nice play by Bobby getting it out, but his knee just touched.

On if Drew’s ability to prepare for the game was impacted since he didn’t know until Wednesday that he was going to be the starter.

No, I think – Drew’s done this for a bit. There was no practice. We did a bunch of walkthroughs. We had a good amount of walkthroughs. Had a bunch last night as well. So again, we’ve got to take care of the ball. Did some nice things, some good, some things we can improve on. We competed all the way to the end. Saw some things but, again, we turned the ball over and that hurts.

Any updates on Dexter Lawrence?

He has an elbow. Dexter, elbow. Nacho – stinger/neck. DJ Davidson shoulder.

Anything on Bobby Okereke? I think he was going to get an x-ray.

Don’t have anything new on Bobby.

On why the running back was lined up often behind Jon Runyan as a protector.

Well, there are different looks that teams give you. Coach Zimmer double mugs and things like that. Sometimes you do it, sometimes you don’t based on the protection scheme.

On if can take away from the help you can give your tackles if there are mismatches.

Yeah, I’d say we had a number of jams with tight ends. That’s one less guy out of they have it. I’d say a fair amount of jams. Not on every play, but jams with the tight ends. Sometimes you can get jams with the running backs if they mug them up there and they have a surge protection scheme. We had a number of chips and jams and things like that. You’ve got to give those guys credit.

On the offense’s struggles over three games with three different quarterbacks in three straight games.

We just got done playing here. Today was a couple of turnovers, and there were certain plays where we had opportunities to either make or call, whatever it may be, but [we were] just not good enough.

On if the quarterback can even operate under that kind of pressure that Drew faced today.

That’s the job of a quarterback is to be able to handle different things. Certainly, you’ve got to make sure you can protect them and give them the opportunity, but taking care of the ball is one of the primary jobs for a quarterback. To not give it to the other team. And certainly, a lot of people, myself included, we can all be better. There were some good plays out there and there were some plays I wish we had back.

On not being able to improve the run defense.

There were some missed tackles again tonght. We’re constantly coaching and talking about it. It wasn’t good enough.

On if this game’s effort was more indicative of what the team you want to see, despite the loss.

We’ll go back and look at it. I think these guys competed all the way to the end. Again, there’s certain plays throughout the game that we have an opportunity to make them or whatever it may be, we didn’t get the job done. Give Dallas credit, but we competed all the way to the end and there were a few plays here or there that we needed to make.

On the team’s string of losses. John has said that we wants to remail patient with the process. Do you think these results will lead him go back on that?

No, I don’t like the results. Nobody likes the results. But again, I have confidence in the people. We’ve just got to do better.

On if he’s worried about his job security.
