Game Report: Jaguars vs. Detroit 2024

The highlight for the Jaguars Sunday: Rookie kicker Cam Little’s 59-yard field goal that gave them a 3-0 first-possession lead and tied the franchise record for longest field goal.

The Lions methodically took control early, driving 70, 93, 63 and 84 yards on their four first-half possessions with short touchdown runs by running backs David Montgomery (one yard, six yards) and Jahmyr Gibbs (two yards) capping the first three possessions.

Goff’s 27-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown gave the Lions a 28-3 lead with 2:46 remaining in the first half.

Goff threw two more touchdowns in the third quarter – to wide receivers Jameson Williams and Brock Wright – and finished completing 24 of 29 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He had a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Jones, starting a second consecutive game in place of injured starter Trevor Lawrence (left shoulder), completed 17 of 29 passes for 138 yards and no touchdown with one interception.

“I could have done a better job on definitely a few plays,” Jones said. “Once we all do that together as 11, we’ll have success. We definitely have a group that’s going to fight. You have to keep going. No one’s going to feel sorry for you.”

The Jaguars did not have a takeaway or a sack Sunday.

“We need to take the first part of the [bye] week and reflect on what’s been good and what hasn’t been good,” Pederson said. “That’s the opportunity we have. We have six games left and it will be exciting. There’s still an opportunity there.”
